What They Prevent

In Kenya’s climate – particularly during the long rains – humidity builds up inside sealed containers and storage units. This causes mould on textiles, corrosion on metal and electronics, warping of timber and paper, spoilage of food products, and cracking of leather. Desiccant bags absorb moisture from the air before it reaches the cargo.

Container Shipping

Moisture absorber bags are the industry standard for protecting cargo in sea freight. Hang them above the cargo on container walls using built-in hooks, or lay them on top of the uppermost layer. They are especially important for organic goods – coffee, grain, dried foods – where humidity can trigger mould growth over a 2–4 week voyage.

Tip: Replace bags every 60–90 days for long-term storage, or when the bag feels hard and fully saturated.

Storage

For goods in self-storage or warehouse storage during Kenya’s rainy seasons, container humidity bags dramatically reduce the risk of mould, mildew, and moisture damage — particularly for clothing, leather, timber furniture, and documents. Place one bag per 10–15 m³ of enclosed space.
